MAY - TARNAC 9

Tarnac9 - as mentioned on our 15 May 2009 show : On November 11th 2008, French Anti-Terrorism Police arrested around twenty people, mostly in Tarnac, a small village in the Correze region of central France. Nine were subsequently accused of "criminal association for the purposes of terrorist activity" in connection with the sabotage of train lines which had caused delays on the French railways, five of them were released on bail and two remain in custody. Very little evidence has been presented against them, but central to the prosecution is their alleged authorship of a book, 'The Coming Insurrection', and their association with what the French government has termed the "anarcho-autonomous movement". They and others are the victims of a witch-hunt in which the word "terrorism" is applied to any ideas and practices which challenge the status quo. An international movement is emerging in their support.

You can help in the following ways:
1. To send letters, postcards, notes to the imprisoned, write to: Comite de soutien aux inculpes de Tarnac, le bourg, 19170 Tarnac, FRANCE
2. Inform yourself about the situation by checking the website regularly at http://tarnac9.wordpress.com/ or email: ussupportcommittee [at] gmail [dot] com
3. Create new support committees in your own area and link up to the others. The Tarnac9 would be benefitted greatly by an international network of committees to show solidarity!
4. Put pressure on the French government to drop this case in whatever ways you see fit!

APRIL - SmashEDO DECOMMISSIONERS

SmashEDO Decommissioners - as mentioned on our 17 April 2009 show : On January 16th a group of 6 decommissioners broke into the EDO/ITT complex and disarmed the factory that was making the bomb release mechanisms for the F15's and F16's. These release mechanisms were essential for the Israeli air force to drop thousands of bombs on innocent people in Palestine. they caused 300,000 pounds worth of damage and successfully brought business to a standstill. The Raytheon 9 did a very similar action causing also 300,000 pounds worth of damage at a Raytheon plant in Derry. On 11 June 2008, by a unanimous verdict of the jury, the Raytheon 9 were found not guilty of three counts of criminal damage at the Raytheon offices, Derry Northern Ireland on August 2006. "The Prosecution could produce not a shred of evidence to counter their case that we had acted to prevent the commission of war crimes during the Lebanon war by the Israeli armed forces using weapons supplied by Raytheon." Colm Bryce EDO MBM have joint contracts with Raytheon for the Paveway Lazer Guided Bombs, they and the British government should be done with aiding and abetting and perpetuating war crimes in Iraq, Lebanon and Gaza.

NOVEMBER - SEAN KIRTLEY

Sean Kirtley - as stated on our 7 November 2008 show : Sean Kirtley was imprisoned by the state (for four and a half years) after an 18 week trial which was at the time the longest running animal rights trial in history. He tirelessly campaigned against animal abuse and was always protesting against fur, foie gras and most notably Sequani labs in Ledbury. He was behind the SSAT (Stop Sequani Animal Testing) website and was seen by the police as the organiser of many the demonstrations against Sequani and suppliers of Sequani. He never himself actually broke the law during any protests, the police were present for most of the demonstrations he attended. He was found guilty of Conspiracy to interfere with contractual relationships so as to harm animal research organisation. This has landed Sean in prison.
